The Deep Sorrow-- Mourning the father of hybrid rice ,Yuan Longping

On May 22, 2021, at 13:07, Chinese scientist Yuan Longping, who was known for developing the first hybrid rice strains , director of the National Hybrid Rice Engineering Research Center and former vice-chairman of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Conference, passed away at the age of 91. 

Yuan Longping, born in September 1930,  helped China with the hybrid rice to feed nearly one-fifth of the world's population with less than 9% of the world's land . "I saw rice plants as tall as Chinese sorghum," said Yuan Longping of a dream he once had, "each ear of rice as big as a broom and each grain of rice as huge as a peanut. I could hide in the shadow of the rice corps with a friend." 

Though his dream hasn't came true , his words still in people's ears , he has encouraged Chinese scientists to work hard to solve the world food problem.

Yuan Longping, as a great man , will always live in people's heart.
